Day 1 Colonial city of León (L)
Our guide and driver will meet you upon arrival at the international airport in Managua. You will be transferred to the colonial city of León where indications, guidelines and overview of the itinerary will be given by your adventure guide.

Day 2 San Cristobal challenge (B/L/D)
One of the most challenging hikes in Nicaragua will be our first adventure. For nearly 10 hours we will hike the highest volcano in Nicaragua which is also active. To reach the 1745 m we will have to hike for nearly 10 hours back and forth, but being in the top is completely worth the effort.

Day 3 Sliding down Cerro Negro volcano (B/L/D)
After a well deserved breakfast, we will continue our hiking adventure to a young and small active volcano Cerro Negro. We will hike for nearly an hour to the top and then slide down on a board or run down. At the top we will have a wonderful view of the volcanic chain in Nicaragua.
We'll drive for 3 hours to the Somoto town. By exploring this town you will realize what it is like traveling back in time with the humble and colorful houses and super friendly people.

Day 4 Highest point in Nicaragua (B/L/D)
This day we will be heading towards Mogoton, where we will take a 9 hour hour hike to the highest point in Nicaragua. A great variety of ecosystems, like pine, transitional and cloud forest will be part of our experience.

Day 5 Somoto canyon (B/L/-)
The canyon is such a beautiful gem, we will be able to swim within the most impressive rock formations of the canyon that will give a great opportunity for those adrenaline lovers to jump into the deep waters of the Río Coco.
We will take a 30 minutes hike and cross the river a couple of times (nothing to be afraid of!) We will hike through the rocks along the river and then finally jump in the refreshing water to swim a downstream to witness the tall walls of the canyon and relax while swimming or jumping from the walls.
After the tour will be driving to Selva Negra, located near Matagalpa and one of the most attractive cloud forest in the region.

Day 6 Cloud forest and coffee (B/L/-)
El Arenal nature reserve is home to exotic birds such as the Resplendent Quetzal and the Three-wattled Bell Bird. Also numerous mammals like monkeys, agouties and peccaries are often seen. We will be hiking for 4 hours and we'll finish with a local coffee tour and delicious homemade lunch.

Day 7 Back home
Selva Negra is outstanding for birdwatching. We can get up a little earlier and go to look for some birds with our nature and adventure guide.
Drive for two hours to the international airport in Managua.
