As an ecological bridge between North and South America, Nicaragua has an impressive diversity of resident and migratory birds. Very near Matagalpa lies the nature reserve El Arenal, a cloud forest rich in biodiversity and home to colorful birds that are among the most beautiful and special in America.
We will walk around the Reserve, which is home to over 200 species of birds, including the legendary Resplendent Quetzal and the Three-wattled Bellbird, the bushy crested jay and many more.
By having a little patience, and by being in the right location, you are able enjoy the incredible diversity of this tropical cloud forest.
